Screencasts and Podcasts
In the last few years, Screencasts and Podcasts have become an immensely useful and popular means of showing learners how to use software. There are lots of examples on YouTube!
I’ve been creating and sharing MP3 audio podcasts for several years, having devised, written, recorded, edited and made available my SimplyDV Digital Video Podcasts since 2007. Although I ceased their production due to workload a couple of years later, they can still be accessed via Apple iTunes.
Video podcasting quickly evolved into a genre known as screencasting – a video screen recording comprised of everything you see and hear as it happens on the computer screen which is recorded, edited and distributed as online video.
Here are some of the screencasts and podcasts I’ve produced recently:
Over 30 EU-funded screencasts in which software engineers from 14 participating bodies explain the workings of applications developed as part of the NeOn Project. Produced for The Open University by Colin Barrett.
Getting Started with Premiere Elements 7
A set of five software how-to DVDs aimed at getting digital video enthusiasts up and running with the popular Adobe video editing program. Devised, presented, produced, edited and marketed by Colin Barrett for SimplyDV Limited.
First Steps with MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 17 HD Plus
A set of 30 online tutorials aimed at users of the popular digital video editing software, starting with the very basics. Devised, presented, produced and compressed in full high definition by Colin Barrett for SimplyDV Limited.
